About the Journal

Purpose of the Journal

The Journal of Humanities and Arts, “Scriptus Manet”, is an international scholarly periodical that publishes original research in the fields of humanities and arts, and interdisciplinary subjects related to these fields, such as education and social sciences. Each issue of the Journal focuses on a specific theme. The Journal focuses specifically on the research on Latvia and the Baltic region.

The publication aims to promote research development and enhance accessibility for scholars and academics. The Journal’s target audience includes scholars, researchers, and anyone interested in the humanities and arts, especially in the Baltic region.

The Journal is published by the Centre for Humanities and Arts of the Riga Technical University Liepaja Academy. The editorial board of the Journal is comprised of academics and scholars in the fields of humanities, arts, and social sciences at research institutions around the world, and represents countries including Estonia, Finland, France, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Poland, and the United States.

All Journal articles have been anonymously double-reviewed.

The printed Journal has been published annually since 2015.
The digital Journal has been published annually since 2020.
The Journal is published on an annual basis, occurring at least once each year.
If the Journal ceases publication, it will still be available at the repository of the Latvian National Digital Library.

Themes of Journal publications

Themes of the Journal publications include areas of the humanities and arts, as well as interdisciplinary subjects linked to the humanities and arts:

  1. Linguistics, literary studies, and folklore studies.
  2. Art, new media art, design, and history.
  3. Education and social sciences.

The Journal particularly supports research into Baltic studies and the Baltic Sea region.

Types of Journal publications

The Journal includes reports on empirical studies, theoretical studies, case studies, literature reviews or meta-analyses, interviews, chronicles, and others.

Language of Journal publications

The Journal accepts articles in Latvian and English. All articles have abstracts/annotations and titles in English. References and bibliography items are transliterated in the Latin alphabet.
